Tech-REPAIR Terms & Conditions

 Purpose

These Terms & Conditions outline eligibility, repair procedures, customer responsibilities, service limitations, payment terms, and operating rules for all repairs performed by Tech-Eyes. The benefits of professionally using a device repaired by the Tech-REPAiR program are detailed on the program page, but this document outlines the conditions under which device repair is accepted, performed, completed, and supported after repair work is completed. It is designed to make the repair process clear, minimize risk of miscommunication, and ensure the customer's and Tech-Eyes' interests are preserved throughout the repair process.

Repair Authorization

No work will be done on a device until the customer has read and agreed to the repair quote and has provided explicit authorization for Tech-Eyes to work on the device. This authorization may be given in writing, electronically, or verbally where company procedure allows, and will be recorded by Tech-Eyes through an approved method regardless of how it was given.

Device Check-In Record

Upon initial acceptance for repair, Tech-Eyes may document the cosmetic and functional condition of the device, which may include any visible cracks, dents, scratches, missing parts, liquid damage, frame damage, display damage, and other defects that can be easily observed. This intake record establishes the device's baseline condition before any repair work begins.

Customer Acceptance of Repair Risks

Customers agree that repairing some devices involves technical risk, which may be due to the device's age, condition, design, or repair history. By authorizing a repair, the customer accepts that additional issues may surface once the device is opened, and that in some cases pre-existing conditions may prevent a full or successful restoration, even where Tech-Eyes applies reasonable professional care throughout.

Repair Completion

A repair is complete once the agreed-upon work has been performed, the repaired function has passed internal quality checks by Tech-Eyes, and the customer has been informed the device is ready for pick-up.

Customer Inspection at Collection

At the time of collection, customers are encouraged to check the repaired device and raise any concerns with Tech-Eyes immediately if the agreed repair doesn't appear to have been completed properly, or if anything looks off before leaving the store. Issues raised after the customer has already left may require a further inspection before Tech-Eyes can determine responsibility.

Diagnostic Charges

If a customer eventually chooses not to work on the recommended repair, a diagnostic or inspection fee can still be charged, as long as the customer was told about the fee before the diagnostic work was performed. This fee includes the technician's time, diagnostic equipment usage and the effort necessary to determine the problem.

Repair Cancellation

Once a customer has been diagnosed and elects not to have the recommended repair done, the device will be returned in the same condition after payment of any previously disclosed diagnosis or inspection fees.

Customer-Supplied Parts

Where a customer asks Tech-Eyes to install a part they've supplied themselves, Tech-Eyes cannot vouch for that component's quality, compatibility, authenticity, or long-term reliability. Any warranty Tech-Eyes provides in this scenario is generally limited to the workmanship of the installation and does not extend to the customer-supplied part itself, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Device Security

Before submitting a device for repair, customers should remove SIM cards, memory cards, external storage, cases, wallets, styluses, and any screen protector not being replaced, along with other personal accessories unless one of these items is directly relevant to the repair being requested. Tech-Eyes is not responsible for personal accessories left with a device unless they were specifically noted during intake.

Parts Availability

Completing a repair depends on the continued availability of the required replacement components. Supplier shortages, discontinued parts, import delays, or manufacturer restrictions may affect how long a repair takes, or may require an alternative repair approach that will be discussed with the customer for approval first.

Replacement Parts Ownership

Unless a customer requests otherwise before the repair is completed, or applicable law says otherwise, any component removed during the repair becomes the property of Tech-Eyes and may be recycled, refurbished, or disposed of according to standard company procedure.

Payment Conditions

Payment for a completed repair is generally due before the device is released, unless Tech-Eyes has expressly agreed to a different payment arrangement in advance. Any outstanding balance on a repair may delay the release of the device until it is settled.

Customer Communication

Tech-Eyes will make reasonable efforts to keep customers updated on:

  • Progress of the repair

  • Any additional issues found and recommended next steps

  • Revised quotations, where applicable

  • Delays related to parts availability

  • Confirmation that the repair is complete

  • Reminders to collect the device

  • Any other development that materially affects the repair

Force Majeure

Repair timelines may be affected by circumstances beyond Tech-Eyes' reasonable control, including supplier shortages, transportation delays, manufacturer restrictions, power outages, telecommunications disruptions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen operational disruptions.

Examples

Example 1 - Additional Damage Discovered Mid-Repair

A customer approves a screen replacement, and during the repair, the technician discovers battery damage caused by an earlier impact. The customer is contacted, provides additional approval, and the repair proceeds to include the newly identified issue.

Example 2 - Customer Declines Additional Work

A customer is informed of additional issues but declines to have them addressed. Only the originally approved repair is completed, and the remaining faults are left unrepaired at the customer's request.

Example 3 - Customer-Supplied Part

A customer supplies their own aftermarket replacement screen, and Tech-Eyes installs it as requested. The installation itself is covered under Tech-Eyes' workmanship warranty, but the aftermarket screen is not covered under Tech-Eyes' Parts Warranty unless a separate agreement states otherwise.

Example 4 - Device Left Uncollected

A customer does not return to collect their repaired device, and the applicable holding period expires. Storage charges may begin to apply, and the device is handled in accordance with the Unclaimed Device Policy and applicable law.

These Terms & Conditions are in addition to and complementary to Tech-Eyes' Repair Policy, Repair Warranty, Warranty Policy, Parts Warranty, Privacy Policy, Return Policy and Refund Policy. Repair services are subject to the applicable Repair Warranty, which covers only eligible workmanship and replacement parts and does not cover any condition specifically excluded under the Repair Warranty Policy or hardware failures unrelated to the services performed. Tech-Eyes reserves the right to refuse or terminate service if a device is reported lost or stolen, it is not reasonably possible to verify ownership, hazardous materials are present, fraud is suspected, or a customer engages in abusive or inappropriate conduct toward staff.
